Try Hockey

Thinking about hockey but not ready to commit to a full season? Come try it! Riley Rink’s free Try Hockey event is designed for kids ages 6–14 who have never played hockey but want to give it a try. The event will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 from 5:15–6:15 PM and gives new players a fun, low-pressure opportunity to get on the ice, learn some basic skills, and experience hockey for the first time. No prior hockey experience is necessary, and you do not need to worry about equipment—we have plenty of gear available for your skater to borrow for the night. Players will work with coaches on basic skating, stickhandling, shooting, and beginner-friendly activities designed to make the experience fun and comfortable. If your skater loves hockey, we’ll help your family find the right age-appropriate hockey program to keep them playing. Questions can be directed to Joe Ferguson at jferguson@nccvermont.com.
